Suklaa have spent a lot of time working in collaboration with school communities. We began to create events when we realised that teachers and young people needed a stronger voice and bigger role in designing the future of education. We curated and organised TEDx London Education Revolution which happened at the Roundhouse in London in 2011. We were the event organisers for the first London Festival of Education, which was held at the Institute of Education in 2012.
Taking the learning from all of our previous events, Suklaa created Oppi Festival . Oppi is a global learning festival that pops up in new locations every year. Oppi is a fusion of quirky, fun and geeky- but at its heart it has world-class, cutting edge contributors and content, meaningful themes- the best minds from across the globe sharing their ideas. Oppi is for everyone interested in education; Teachers, Young People, Parents, Educators, System Leaders, Ministers, Policy Makers, Education Businesses, Journalists, Change Makers… and it’s this unique diverse audience that makes it different. Oppi is truly international, with participants coming from all over the world. Oppi is accessible for all. That’s why it moves each year. That’s why the tickets are super affordable.
Suklaa offers a refreshing and unorthodox approach to education events. We like participants to feel surprised, inspired and entertained, whilst underpinning all that we do with cutting edge content and world class contributors. We like to create a sense of informality, as we think the best learning happens when people feel engaged, but relaxed . We challenge conference stereotypes and like to approach everything from “registration” to “final keynote” with the participant experience as our priority.
